Hamad Kalkaba Malboum
« Un niveau très relevé »
A l’issue de la compétition, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum a donné un point de presse pour dire bravo aux Mauriciens dont il a apprécié l’engagement dans la préparation et dans l’organisation des 9e Championnats d’Afrique Juniors. Il s’est dit satisfait de la participation des grands pays de tradition dans la pratique de l’Athlétisme ; notamment l’Afrique du sud, l’Egypte, le Nigeria, le Kenya, l’Ethiopie… De cette conférence on retient que le Président de la CAA a constaté que le niveau technique était très élevé ; dix nouveaux records de championnats ont été établis dont quatre chez les garçons (1500m, 400mHaies, Perche, Marteau) et six chez les filles (400m, 800m, 1500m, 400mHaies, Javelot, Marteau). Il n’a pas manqué de relever le doublé de la Sud africaine Caster Semenya sur 800m et 1500m, accompagné de nouveaux records de Championnats et de la meilleure performance de la saison sur 800m en 1.56.72.
Il s’est dit fier du jeune Cheyne Rahme au saut à la perche car l’Afrique est très souvent absente dans ces épreuves. Il a annoncé que le choix du prochain pays organisateur des Championnats en 2011 aura lieu à Berlin, en marge des Mondiaux. Il y aura le Conseil et le Congrès de la CAA.
Il a invité la presse à être l’avocat de l’athlétisme auprès des hommes politiques afin que ces derniers accordent plus d’attention à l’athlétisme des jeunes et que l’Afrique soit toujours forte lors des rendez-vous internationaux.
Par ailleurs, il a annoncé que l’Afrique sera bien présente à la prochaine Coupe du Monde (Thessalonique – Grèce). En effet, il s’agira du 28 avril au 02 mai 2010 à Nairobi (Kenya), lors des 18ème championnats d’Afrique seniors, d’effectuer la sélection continentale qui va affronter celles des Amérique, d’Europe et d’Asie (qui sera associé à l’Océanie). Ce sera un match à quatre. Ce qui diffère de l’ancienne formule où, certains pays comme la Russie, l’Allemagne, les USA engageaient des équipes individuelles.

« A very much raised level »
At the end of the competition, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum gave a press conference to say bravo to the Mauritian people whose commitment in the preparation and in the organization of 9th Junior African Championships he appreciated. He said he was satisfied with the participation of the big countries practicing Athletics by tradition; in particular South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria, Kenya, Ethiopia … about this conference we bear in mind that the President of the CAA noticed that the technical level was very high; ten new records of championships were established among which four at the boys (1500m, 400mHurdles, Pole Vault, Hammer) and six at the girls (400m, 800m, 1500m, 400mHurdles, Javelin, Hammer). He did not fail to raise the doubled of the South African Caster Semenya on 800m and 1500m, accompanied with new records of Championships and the best performance of the season on 800m in 1.56.72.
He said he was proud of the young Cheyne Rahme in the pole vault because Africa is very often absent in these events. He announced that the choice of the next organizing country of Championships in 2011 will be made in Berlin, outside the World Championships. There will be the Council and the Congress meetings of the CAA.
He invited the press to be the defender of athletics with the politicians so that these latter grant more attention on the athletics of young people and so that Africa be always strong during the international meetings.
Besides, he announced that Africa will be very present in the next World cup (Thessalonica - Greece). Indeed, they will have from April 28th till May 2nd, 2010 in Nairobi (Kenya), during 18th senior championships of Africa, to make the continental selection which is going to face those of America, Europe and Asia (which will be associated with Oceania). It will be a match between four, which is different from the ancient formula where, certain countries as Russia, Germany, the USA would enter individual teams.
