Grand Prix IAAF de Dakar/IAAF GP DAKAR : Ndiss Kaba Badji assure le spectacle
Pari gagné pour Momar Mbaye et son équipe qui ont organisé avec brio la 4e édition du Grand Prix IAAF de Dakar au Stade Iba Mar Diop, en lieu et place du Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor. Le public, évalué à plus de 10.000 personnes, a été le témoin de bonnes performances enregistrées sur la piste et les sautoirs. Ndiss Kaba Badji, 8,29 m à la Longueur (avec vent un peu favorable), a été la grande attraction du meeting.L’Ethiopien Deresse Mekonnen a signé, sur la piste d’Iba Mar Diop, La meilleure performance mondiale de la saison sur 3000m en 7’44’’68. Le concours du lancement de poids a réuni à l’île de Gorée des sommités mondiales de la discipline.
IAAF Grand Prix Dakar: Ndiss Kaba Badji on show
The bet is won for Momar Mbaye and his team who organized with brilliance the 4th edition of IAAF Grand Prix of Dakar at Iba Mar Diop stadium, instead of Léopold Sédar Senghor stadium. The public, estimated at about more than 10.000 people, witnessed some good performances recorded on the track and the jumping pit. Ndiss Kaba Badji, 8,29 m in long jump (with a little favorable wind), was the great attraction of the meeting. Deresse Mekonnen from Kenya performed on the track of Iba Mar Diop, the best world performance of the season on 3,000m in 7' 44'' 68. The shot put contest gathered in Goree Island the world celebrities of the discipline.

Le Président de la CAA reconduit à la tête du comité olympique camerounais
Le Président de la Confédération Africaine d’Athlétisme (CAA), Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, a été réélu Président du Comité Olympique Camerounais. Il a été plébiscité avec 107 voix sur 108 et un bulletin nul.

The President of the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA), Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, was re-elected President of the Olympic Committee of Cameroon. He was elected by plebiscite with 107 votes out of 108 and one spoilt ballot paper.

L’Ethiopie, le Soudan et le Kenya ont dominé les Championnats Cadets d’Afrique de l’Est
Les 7èmes Championnats Cadets d’Afrique de l’Est, tenus à Addis-Abeba les 25 et 26 Avril 2009, ont été marqués par la suprématie des athlètes du pays hôte, du Soudan et du Kenya. De remarquables performances ont été réalisées sur la piste du Stade d’Addis-Abeba qui avait accueilli l’année dernière les championnats d’Afrique réservés aux seniors.
Ethiopia, Sudan and Kenya dominated the East Africa Youth Championships
The 7th edition of the East Africa Youth Championships, held in Addis-Abeba the 25th and 26th April 2009 was marked by the supremacy of the athletes of the host country, of Sudan and Kenya. Remarkable performances were carried out on the track of Addis-Abeba stadium which hosted last year the Senior African championships.

Succès populaire de la Course de Bidouane à Rabat
Près de 20.000 dames ont pris part, à Rabat, à la seconde course féminine de la victoire organisée  à l’initiative de la double championne du monde et médaillée olympique des 400m haies Nezha Bidouane. La manifestation a été rehaussée par la présence de Son Altesse Royale la Princesse Lalla Amina et de nombreuses autres personnalités dont le président du Comité Olympique Marocain, le Préfet et le Maire de la ville et de Abdeslam Ahizoune Président de la Fédération Royale Marocaine d’Athlétisme.
Popular success of Bidouane’s Race in Rabat
 Nearly 20.000 ladies participated, in Rabat, in the second female race of the victory organized on the initiative of Nezha Bidouane, the double world champion and Olympic prize winner of the 400m Hurdles. The event was marked by the presence of Her Royal Highness, the Princess Lalla Amina and of many other personalities among whom the president of the Moroccan Olympic Committee, the Prefect and the Mayor of the city and Abdeslam Ahizoune President of the Royal Moroccan Federation of Athletics.

Championnats d’Afrique Junior à Maurice
Les 9ème Championnats d’Afrique Junior d’Athlétisme, initialement prévus à Bata (Guinée Equatoriale) du 2 au 5 juillet,  se dérouleront finalement à l’Ile Maurice du 30 Juillet au 2 Août 2009.
African Junior Championships in Mauritius
The 9th edition of the African Junior Championships in Athletics, initially envisaged in Bata (Equatorial Guinea) in July 2nd -5th, will finally take place in Mauritius, from July 30th to August 2nd 2009.

Margaret Simpson de retour dans les affaires
Après avoir été absente des compétitions pendant presque un an, Margaret Simpson du Ghana, pour son retour, a marqué 5667 points au meeting Heptathlon à l’Ile Maurice lors de la deuxième édition des Championnats d’Afrique d’ Epreuves combinées (les 18 et19 Avril).
Cependant, il lui manquait 233 points pour se qualifier pour les 12èmes Championnats du Monde d’Athlétisme qui auront lieu à Berlin, Allemagne (du 15 au 23 août 2009).

Pourtant Simpson, la médaillée du monde de bronze en 2005 a été plus enchantée que déçue par son résultat. « C'est ma première compétition depuis le début de 2008. Je suis très satisfaite de ce que j'ai fait ici à l’Ile

Maurice. Je sais que je peux améliorer mes résultats. C'est simplement une question de temps. J’ai la ferme conviction que je pourrai le faire pendant les épreuves combinées de Desenzano. » 

Margaret Simpson is back in business
After being away from competition for almost one year Ghana’s Margaret Simpson in her comeback Heptathlon meeting scored 5667 points in Mauritius during the second edition of the African Combined Events Championships (18-19 April) to take gold.
However, she missed by 233 points the entry standard for the 12th World Championships in Athletics to be held in Berlin, Germany (15 - 23 August).
Yet Simpson the 2005 World bronze medallist was delighted by her result and not at all disappointed. “This is my first competition since the very beginning of 2008. I’m very happy about what I did here in Mauritius. I know that I can better my results. It is just a matter of time. I deeply believe that I can do it during the combined events meet in Desenzano.”
