The IAAF / VTB Bank World Athletics Final will be celebrated on the weekend of the 12-13 September 2009 in Thessaloniki, Greece.

12e Championnats du monde (15 au 23 août à Berlin)
23 médailles pour l’Afrique, le Kenya 3e mondial
L’Afrique a décroché 23 médailles (8 OR, 9 ARGENT, 6 BRONZE) lors des 12e Championnats du monde d’athlétisme qui ont eu lieu du 15 au 23 août 2009 à Berlin, en Allemagne. Seuls le Kenya, l’Ethiopie, l’Afrique du Sud et l’Erythrée ont pu accéder au podium. Il y a deux ans à Osaka, lors de la 11ème édition, la moisson africaine se chiffrait à 20 médailles dont 8 en or, 5 en argent et 7 en bronze.
Au classement général, les Etats-Unis d'Amérique sont premiers des championnats avec 22 médailles dont 10 en or, suivis de la Jamaïque qui a remporté 13 médailles dont 7 en or et le Kenya (4 Or).

23 medals for Africa, Kenya 3rd in the World
Africa took away 23 medals (8 gold, 9 silver and 6 of Bronze) in the 12th world championships in athletics which took place from 15th to 23rd August 2009 in Berlin, Germany. Only Kenya, Ethiopia, South Africa and Erythrea have been able to reach the podium. Two years ago in Osaka at the 11th edition, the African crop was 20 medals among which 8 gold, 5 silver and 7 Bronze.
In the general classification, the USA are first with 22 medals among which 10 gold, followed by Jamaica with 13 medals (7gold) and Kenya (4 gold)

Conseil de la CAA à Berlin :
Deux grandes décisions ont été prises par la Conseil de la CAA à Berlin : les Championnats d’Afrique Junior 2011 auront lieu au Botswana ; la 1ère édition des Championnats d’Afrique de Cross Country en 2011 se tiendra en Afrique du Sud

Deux décisions majeures ont été prises à Berlin lors du 47ème Congrès de l’IAAF :
- Le congrès de la Fédération internationale d'athlétisme (IAAF) a adopté la mise hors-la-loi du faux départ en sprint à compter du 1er janvier prochain, par 97 voix contre 55 et 6 abstentions, sur recommandation du conseil. Le premier faux départ d'une course d'athlétisme vaudra donc une disqualification à partir de 2010. "En 2010, il n'y a ni JO ni Mondiaux, aussi les athlètes pourront prendre leurs marques avec la nouvelle règle", a plaidé Lamine Diack, répondant ainsi à ceux qui avancent "le trouble" pour les athlètes expérimentés. Cette règle, a rappelé M. Diack, est appliquée depuis une trentaine d'années dans les compétitions universitaires aux Etats-Unis.
- Les Championnats du Monde de Cross Country, jusque là compétition annuelle, se tiendront dorénavant tous les 2 ans avec en alternance, l’obligation pour chaque continent d’organiser un championnat continental de Cross Country. Vote pour : 132. Vote contre : 22.

47TH IAAF CONGRESS: Major decisions during the 47th edition of the IAAF Congress.
No False Start, the following proposal was approved:
"Except in Combined Events, any athlete responsible for a False Start shall be disqualified."
"In Combined Events only one false start per race shall be allowed without disqualification of the athlete(s) responsible for the false start. Any athlete(s) making further false starts in the race shall be disqualified from the race."
Vote: Yes – 97; No - 55
World XC - every two years
The proposal that the World Cross Country Championships should be held every two years alternating with Area championships was approved.
Vote: Yes – 132 ; No - 22

Kenenisa Bekele, l'autre empereur
Si Usain Bolt est l'incontestable roi du sprint sur la piste des Mondiaux de Berlin, le grand fond possède en Kenenisa Bekele son empereur. Après son sacre sur le 10 000 m, l'Ethiopien, sublimé par la résistance d'un formidable Bernard Lagat, a conclu la compétition en réussissant un doublé inédit sur 5 000 m. Seul médaillé d'or pour son pays à Berlin, Bekele présente un palmarès de plus en plus vertigineux désormais fort de cinq médailles d'or mondiales, soit une de plus que son maître et compatriote, Haile Gebreselassie, auxquelles s'ajoutent ces trois titres olympiques. Et l'Ethiopien n'a que 27 ans ! Bekele reste également en course pour prétendre au million de dollars de la Golden league 2009, qui sera distribué la semaine prochaine à Bruxelles, lors du traditionnel meeting Van Damme au côté de Sanya Richards sur 400 m et de Yelena Isinbayeva,

If Usain Bolt is the uncontested king of sprint on the track of the Berlin world championships, Kenenisa Bekele is himself the emperor of the long distance. After his victory in the 10,000m the Ethiopian athlete amazed by the resistance of a very good Bernard Lagat, ended the competition by succeeding a wonderful double in 5000m. Being the only athlete to have won a gold medal in Berlin, Bekele presents a more and more wonderful list of prizes from now on strong with 5 world gold medals meaning one medal more than his master and countryman Haile Gebreselassie has; to these he adds his three Olympic titles. The Ethiopian is but 27 years old! Bekele also stays in the race to apply for the one million dollar of the 2009 golden league which will be distributed next week in Bruxelles at the traditional Van Damme meeting next to Sanya Richards on 400m and Yelena Isinbayeva
