Dakar et Rabat dans le Challenge mondial IAAF
L’Afrique se consolera d’une présence dans le Challenge mondial qui va réunir 13 villes du monde. Ainsi, Dakar et Rabat ont été retenus pour participer à cette compétition dont le coup d’envoi sera donné à Melbourne le 4 mars 2010. Les meetings de Dakar et Rabat auront lieu respectivement le 24 avril et le 6 juin 2010.
Dakar and Rabat part of the IAF World Challenge
Without African countries in the IAAF Diamond League, Rabat and Dakar will represent Africa in the IAAF World Challenge. The first meeting of the circuit (13 meets) will be held in Melbourne (4th March 2010) whereas Dakar and Rabat will be held respectively on the 24th April 2010 and 6th June 2010.
 Déclaration sur l’affaire Caster Semenya
L'IAAF, le Ministère sud-africain des Sports et des loisirs ainsi que les représentants de Caster Semenya se sont engagés dans des discussions qui se poursuivent encore, en vue de trouver une solution concernant la participation de Caster Semenya aux compétitions d’athlétisme.
L'IAAF ne fera aucun commentaire portant sur les questions médicales liées au cas Semenya. Les examens médicaux de l'athlète doivent être complétés.
Caster Semenya - Statement
The IAAF, the South African Ministry of Sport and Recreation and Caster Semenya's representatives have been and still are in discussions with a view to resolving the issues surrounding Caster Semenya's participation in Athletics.
The IAAF will not comment upon the medical aspects of Caster Semenya's case. The medical testing of the athlete is still to be completed.
There will be no discussion of Caster Semenya's case at the forthcoming IAAF Council Meeting to be held in Monaco on 20-21 November 2009. No further comment will be made on this subject until further notice. |
 Nouveau record du monde pour Tirunesh Dibaba
L'Ethiopienne Tirunesh Dibaba s’est à nouveau distinguée, en battant de 26 secondes le record du monde du 15 kilomètres sur route. Elle a signé son exploit en 46'28sec, lors du 15 km sur route de Nimègue. La double championne olympique en titre sur 5000 et 10 000 mètres efface ainsi des tablettes la Japonaise Kayoko Fukushi, détentrice de ce record depuis 2006.
Tirunesh Dibaba new 15 km world record
Double olympic winner Tirunesh Dibaba had an excellent 15 km road race debut at 26th Zevenheuvelenloop (Seven Hills Race) in Netherlands. She won and clocked 46:28 and improved dramatically the current IAAF Road Race world record by 26 seconds. Previous mark of Kayoko Fukushi (Japan) from Marugame 2006 was 46:55.
Décès du Kenyan Patrick Ndururi et de l’Ivoirien Samuel Williams
Le Kenyan Patrick Ndururi, l'un des coureurs de 800m les plus rapides des années 1990 (1:42.62 à Zürich en 1997), est décédé fin octobre à l'âge de 40 ans.
Par ailleurs, le sprinter ivoirien Samuel Williams a été victime d'un accident de moto fatal aux Etats-Unis où il poursuivait ses études. Le sprinter âgé de 24 ans (21.39 au 200m) avait fait partie tout récemment de l'équipe de Côte d'Ivoire de 4x100m qui a terminé 4e aux Jeux de la Francophonie.
En cette douloureuse circonstance, la CAA présente ses sincères condoléances à toute la famille athlétique Africaine, en particulier aux Fédérations Ivoirienne et kenyane ainsi qu'aux familles des défunts.
Death of Kenyan Patrick Ndururi and Ivory Coast sprinter Samuel Williams
Kenya's Patrick Ndururi, one of the fastest 800m runner of the 1990ies (1:42.62 in Zürich in 1997), passed away at the end of October at age 40.
Also, Ivory Coast sprinter Samuel Williams was the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident in the USA, where he was a student at Emporia State University, Kansas. The sprinter aged 24 (21.39 in the 200m), was recently part of the CIV 4x100m team that finished 4th at the Francophone Games in Beyrouth. RIP Samuel.
In these sorrowful circumstances, the CAA presents its condolences to all African athletics family, particularly to that of Ivory Coast and Kenyan Federations as well as to their family.

L'image de John MacDougall prise lors des Championnats du Monde d’Athlétisme de Berlin avec la petite-fille de l'athlète allemand Luz Long et celle du champion américain Jesse Owens, réunies autour du président de la Fédération internationale d'athlétisme (IAAF) Lamine Diack lors de la remise des médailles du saut en longueur, a reçu le Grand Prix de l'image Peace and Sport de l'année après la publication des prix de l'organisation pour la paix par le sport.
La troisième édition du Forum, qui s’est tenue en présence du Prince Albert II de Moncano et d’environ 400 décideurs venus de 85 pays, était articulée autour de débats portant sur la paix, le sport et les relations internationales.
President Diack receives Peace and Sport Image of the Year award
The prize giving ceremony of the Peace and Sport Awards 2009 took place last night in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and over 400 other high-profile personalities from sport, politics, business and civil life who had assembled this week in the Mediterranean Principality for the International Peace and Sport Forum.
During the Awards Ceremony, the prestigious Peace and Sport Image of the Year was presented to IAAF President Lamine Diack for his initiative to unite the granddaughter of the German athlete Luz Long and the granddaughter of USA’s Olympic champion Jesse Owens at the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Athletics, Berlin, for the medal ceremony for the men’s Long Jump.
This image perpetuates the courageous and unforgettable friendship between their grandfathers that began during the 1936 Olympics, where Owens best Long for gold.
 Bolt en pèlerinage au Kenya
Bolt, le détenteur du record du monde du 110m haies Colin Jackson et Jochen Zeitz (créateur de la fondation Zeitz et directeur exécutif de Puma) étaient au Kenya pour le lancement officiel de la Fondation Zeitz et de « The Long Run » dont le but est de préserver l’environnement.
Bolt, Jackson et Zeitz ont eu une audience avec le Président Kenyan, Mwai Kibaki, et les Ministres. Ces derniers les ont accueillis chaleureusement et les ont invités à découvrir les splendeurs qu’offre le Kenya.
Lors d’une cérémonie à laquelle a assisté le Premier Ministre Raila Odinga, Bolt a adopté un guépard (animal le plus rapide au monde) tandis que Jackson a adopté une antilope.

Bolt, former World 110m Hurdles World record holder Colin Jackson and Jochen Zeitz, founder of the Zeitz Foundation and Puma chief executive, were in Kenya as part of the official launch of the Zeitz Foundation and “The Long Run” initiative to conserve the environment.
Bolt, Jackson and Zeitz had an audience with Kenya’s President Mwai Kibaki and senior ministers, who warmly welcomed the party to Kenya and encouraged them to enjoy the wonderful sights and wildlife that Kenya has to offer.
At a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Bolt fittingly adopted a cheetah, the fastest animal on land, and Jackson adopted an eland antelope.

Le Jamaïcain Usain Bolt et l’Américaine Sanya Richards ont été sacrés meilleurs athlètes 2009, lors du gala mondial de l’athlétisme qui s’est tenu à la Salle des Etoiles du Sporting Club d’été de Monte-Carlo. La cérémonie, présidée par le Prince Albert II de Monaco aux cotes de Lamine Diack qui préside aux destinées de la Fédération internationale (IAAF), a été animée par le Super Etoile de Youssou Ndour.
During the celebrations of the World Athletics Gala hosted by International Athletic Foundation (IAF) Honorary President HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and IAF & IAAF President Lamine Diack in the Salle des Etoiles of the Sporting Club d'Eté, Monte Carlo 23-year-old Jamaican Usain Bolt and USA's 24-year-old Sanya Richards were crowned as the Male and Female World Athletes of the Year 2009.
