Meeting de Rabat : La Jamaïcaine Shelly-Ann Fraser intouchable
La Jamaïcaine Shelly-Ann Fraser, championne olympique et du monde du 100 m, star incontestable de la 3è édition du meeting international Mohammed-VI d'athlétisme, disputée le 6 juin 2010 sur la somptueuse piste du complexe Prince Moulay Abdellah à Rabat, dans le cadre de la 8ème étape de l'IAAF World Challenge, a dominé sa course en la remportant haut la main en 11sec 13 /100.
Fraser a devancé d’un centième sa concurrente la vétérane Chandra Sturrup du Bahamas et l'Américaine Tianna Madison (11:41).
Parmi les performances remarquables signées au  meeting international  Mohammed VI, qui a été  rehaussé par la présence de SAR le Prince Moulay Rachid et le président de l’IAAF Lamine Diack, le président de la CAA, Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, celle du Français Mehieddine Mekhessi  Benaddad sur le 3.000m steeple (08:08.82). Le vice- champion  olympique est parvenu à prendre le dessus  dans une course chaude sur les Kenyans Ezekiel Kemboi, champion du monde en titre et détenteur de la MPM de l'année (08:06.28), et son compatriote Richard Kemboi Mateelong, vice-champion du monde, qui ont terminé respectivement dans les 3è et 2è positions.

IAAF World Challenge Rabat: Shelly-Ann Fraser as expected
World and Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser was the undisputed attraction of the 3rd meeting International Mohammed VI of Rabat held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah sporting facilities for the 8th stop of the IAAF World Challenge on Sunday (6 june).
Fraser crossed the line in 11.13 a mere hundredth of a second ahead of Bahamas’ Chandra Sturrup to take the women’s 100m with American Tianna Madison in third at 11.41.
Among other notable performances of a meeting which was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid of Morocco and IAAF President Lamine Diack, a clear win by France’s Mahiedine Mekhissi over 3000m steeplechase was the most impressive.
The Olympic silver medallist scored a convincing win in 8:08.82 defeating both the World champion and season World leader Ezekiel Kemboi and World silver medallist Richard Mateelong both of Kenya.

Journée du Souvenir, en hommage à Abdoul Wahab Ba
La ligue de Dakar (Sénégal), fidèle à la tradition, a organisé le samedi 26 juin 2010  au Stade Iba Mar la journée de souvenir, en hommage à tous les militants de la première discipline olympique qui ne sont plus de ce monde. Pour la présente édition, le parrain a été Feu Abdoul Wahab Ba, ancien secrétaire général de la Confédération africaine d’athlétisme. Ce haut cadre du sport nous a quittés en 2008. Tous ses amis se souviennent de cet homme aux qualités exceptionnelles qui a tout donné au sport.

The Dakar League, (Senegal), true to its tradition, organised at the Iba Mar Stadium, on Saturday 26 June 2010, a memorial day in honour of all deceased militants of the first Olympic discipline. The patron of the first edition was late Abdou Wahab Ba, former Secretary General of the African Athletics Confederation. This personality in the world of sports passed away in 2008. All his friends remember a man endowed with exceptional qualities and who gave his all in the domain of sports.

Javelot : Nouveau record pour Sunette Viljoen
La sud-africaine Sunette Viljoen a amélioré son record d'Afrique du javelot de presque 1m lors du meeting de Prague, en République Tchèque, lundi 14 Juin. Viljoen a pris la première place en réalisant un jet à 66.38m s’imposant ainsi devant la championne olympique Barbora Špotáková qui concourait devant son public (65.71m).

South African Sunette Viljoen improved her Africa javelin record with a throw of 66.38 metres in Prague the Czech Republic on Monday night (14 June).In the process she beat Olympic Champions Barbora Spotakova on her home ground.

La Marocaine Hachlaf sous les 2 minutes au 800m
Réputée comme étant une des plus rapides du monde, la piste du stade Olympique de Rome a justifié sa réputation. C’est ainsi que la Marocaine Halima Hachlaf a réalisé en 1'58''40 la meilleure performance mondiale de la saison lors de la quatrième étape de la « Diamond League » à Rome. Agée seulement de 21 ans, la Marocaine a amélioré le chrono de la Jamaïcaine Kenia Sinclair : 1'58''62 le 1er mai à Kingston.

Moroccan athlete Hachlaf below 2 minutes in 800m
Known to be one of the fastest ladies in the world, the track of the Olympic Stadium in Rome, justified her reputation. It is in this regard that Moroccan athlete, Halima Hachlaf realised the best world performance of the season (1.58’40), during the fourth stage of the “Diamond League” in Rome. Only 21, the Moroccan, improved the time of Jamaican athlete Kenia Sinclair: 1.58’62 on May 01 in Kingston.

L’IAAF a le plaisir d’annoncer que le processus d'appel d'offres relatif au sponsoring de la Diamond League IAAF a été finalisé avec succès. Samsung, chef de file mondial de l'électronique grand public, a accepté de devenir sponsor en titre de la Diamond League pour les deux prochaines saisons, à partir de 2010, avec la possibilité de prolonger d’un an.

Milcah Chemos  vise le record d’Afrique et le titre mondial en 2011
La jeune Milcah Chemos Cheiywa a dévoilé à demi mot que l’année prochaine elle pourrait être sacrée Championne du Monde du 3000m steeplechase.
Chemos, qui n’est plus une débutante et qui détient la sixième meilleure performance de tous les temps, croit qu’elle a toutes les chances de s’améliorer cette saison et de devenir beaucoup plus performante avant les Championnats du Monde à Daegu l’année prochaine.
Au départ, la Kenyane voulait se spécialiser sur 800 et 1500m mais elle a senti qu’elle ne pourrait pas être compétitive au niveau mondial.
Chemos se souvient encore du moment où son rêve est devenu réalité  après avoir remporté la médaille de bronze aux derniers Championnats du Monde à Berlin, seulement quatre mois après avoir débuté sur cette distance et réalisé 9:54.4 en altitude. Elle est passée à côté de la médaille d’argent à seulement 0.18sec.

Milcah Chemos eyeing African record and 2011 World title
Newly emerging Milcah Chemos Cheiywa albeit very cautiously, is coming to terms that next year she could be crowned IAAF World 3000m Steeplechase champion.
Chemos, no longer a rookie and the sixth fastest performer of all-time believes she has plenty of room to improve this season and become an even more potent force before Daegu hosts the next year's World Championships.
"God willing, I hope so," said the Kenyan who originally wanted to specialise at the 800 and 1500 but felt she couldn't be competitive on the global stage at that level.
Chemos still recalls what was a dream come true after becoming the shock bronze medallist at last summer's World Championships just four months after debuting at the distance and clocking 9:54.4 at altitude - indeed the unknown Kenyan only missed silver in Berlin by 0.18sec.

Gebrselassie attendu pour le Marathon de New York
Les organisateurs ont annoncé que la légende de la course de fond, plusieurs fois médaillés d’or olympique et médaillé d’or des championnats du monde, tenant du titre au marathon mondial, l’Ethiopien, Haile Gebrselassie participera pour la première fois de sa carrière au Marathon de New York, le 7 novembre.

“C’est un plaisir d’accueillir Haile dans le Marathon”, a déclaré le président des coureurs sur route de New York et le PDG, Mary Wittenberg. “Nous avons attendu ce jour avec impatience. Haile représente le meilleur de notre sport et bien plus encore. Nous aurons ainsi le privilège et l’honneur de l’accueillir en ces lieux. Je sais qu’il ne laissera pas les habitants de la ville de New York indifférents comme c’est le cas avec ses fans à travers le monde”.

L’annonce s’est faite au Stade Icahn, où Gebrselassie s’est joint à 1500 écoliers pour participer au “New York Road Runners Mighty Milers Fun Run” en prélude à la deuxième célébration annuelle de la Journée National des Courses.

Largement considéré comme le meilleur coureur de marathon de tous les temps, Gebrselassie, 37 ans, a inscrit le record mondial de Marathon en 2008, au Marathon de Berlin, avec un chrono de 2 :03 :59. Gebrselasie s’est concentré sur la course sur route et le Marathon depuis les Jeux Olympiques de 2004. Par ailleurs, il a obtenu son premier titre, dans une course de Marathon, à Berlin, en 2006. En plus des quatre victoires consécutives à Berlin, il a remporté des courses de marathon à Amsterdam (2005), à Fukuoka, Japon (2006) et à Dubaï (2008, 2009, 2010).

Le médaillé d’or des 10 000m au Jeux Olympiques de 1996 et 2000 a également remporté 124 courses, dont quatre (Atlanta, Boston, Tempe et New York) ont eu lieu aux Etats-Unis. Il a déjà inscrit 25 records du monde dans sa brillante carrière, avec un total de 15 médailles en senior aux Jeux Olympiques (2), au Championnat du monde (7), au Championnat du monde en salle (4), au Championnat du monde de semi-marathon (1) et au Championnat du monde de Cross Country (1).


Gebrselassie to run New York Marathon
Long-distance legend, multiple Olympic and World Championships gold medallist, and Marathon World record holder Haile Gebrselassie of Ethiopia will make his first career appearance at the ING New York City Marathon on 7 November, organisers announced.  
“It is pretty much a thrill of a lifetime for us to host Haile in the marathon,” said New York Road Runners president and CEO Mary Wittenberg. “We have looked forward to this day for literally years. Haile represents the very best of our sport and more. We are privileged and honored to bring him here. I know he’ll touch New Yorkers, as he has touched fans around the world.”
The announcement was made at Icahn Stadium, where Gebrselassie joined 1500 schoolchildren for the New York Road Runners Mighty Milers Fun Run as part of the second annual National Running Day celebration.
 Widely considered the greatest distance runner of all time, Gebrselassie, 37, set the Marathon world record in 2008 at the real,- Berlin Marathon with a time of 2:03:59. Gebrselassie has focused on road racing and the Marathon since the 2004 Olympic Games, and he captured his first title in a World Marathon Majors race in Berlin in 2006. In addition to four straight wins in Berlin, he has also claimed marathon victories in Amsterdam (2005), Fukuoka, Japan (2006), and Dubai (2008, 2009, 2010).
The 1996 and 2000 Olympic 10,000m gold medallist has won 124 races, only four of which (Atlanta, Boston, Tempe, and New York) have been in the United States. He has now set 25 World records in his illustrious career with a total of 15 senior medals at the Olympic Games (2), World Outdoor Championships (7), World Indoor Championships (4), World Half-Marathon Championships (1), and World Cross Country Championships (1).
