Nawal El Moutawakel présidente de la commission de coordination des JO 2016
Nawal El Moutawakel, membre du Conseil de l’IAAF et de la CAA, nommée présidente de la Commission de coordination des Jeux Olympiques 2016 à Rio de Janeiro, a indiqué que cette désignation est «une fierté pour mon pays le Maroc et pour la femme arabe, musulmane et africaine».
«Ce qui me comble le plus, c'est le fait d'être la première femme chargée de cette mission à la fois lourde et noble», a indiqué Mme El Moutawakel, membre de la Commission exécutive du Comité international olympique (CIO).
Elle a, également, souligné que cette mission, d'une extrême importance, intervient après sa nomination comme présidente de la commission d'évaluation des candidatures pour les JO 2012 et 2016 et comme membre de la Commission de coordination de Londres-2012.
Mme El Moutawakel, première femme à présider une commission de coordination, dirigera une équipe solide et multinationale, composée de 17 personnes chargées d'aider le comité d'organisation de Rio-2016 durant toute la période précédant les JO et de suivre l'avancée des préparatifs.
Membre du CIO depuis 1998, Mme El Moutawakel rejoint la commission exécutive du CIO en 2008. La même année, elle est nommée présidente de la Commission d'évaluation pour les Jeux Olympiques de 2016. Elle a également présidé la commission d'évaluation du CIO pour les JO-2012.
Ancienne ministre de la Jeunesse et des Sports, elle est également championne olympique au palmarès éloquent, avec notamment l'or au 400 m haies lors des Jeux de la XXIIIe Olympiade à Los Angeles en 1984.

Nawal El Moutawakel, IAAF and CAA Council member who was appointed president of the coordination commission of the 2016 Olympic games that will take place in Rio de Janeiro said that this appointment is a “pride for Morocco, my country and for the Arab, Muslim and African woman.”   
«What delights me the most is the fact of being the first woman to be assigned this mission at the same time heavy and noble » said Mrs Nawal El Moutawakel, member of the executive committee of the National Olympic committee.
She also said that this mission of a very much importance occurs after her nomination as the president of the Evaluation committee of applications for 2012 and 2016 Olympic games and as member of coordination committee of London 2012.
Mrs El Moutawakel, the first lady to lead a coordination committee, will lead a strong and multinational team composed by 17 persons responsible of helping the organizing committee of Rio-2016 during all the period before the Olympic games and to ensure the follow-up of preparations.
Being a Member of the IOC since 1998, Mrs El Moutawakel joined the executive committee of the IOC in 2008. The same year, she is appointed president of the evaluation committee for the 2016 Olympic games. She is also the president of the evaluation committee of the IOC for the 2012 Olympic games.
A former minister of youth and sports, she is also Olympic champion with an important prize list particularly her golden medal in 400m hurdles during the games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad in 1984 in Los Angeles.

Les Championnats se dérouleront au Nyayo Stadium.

The Logo of the Africa Senior Championships 2010 which will take place in Nairobi from 28 July to 1st August has been unveiled by the athletics federation of Kenya. Further, the Championships website has been launched and all information relating to the Championships can be found on the following address: www.nairobi2010.com 
The Championships will take place in the Nyayo Stadium.

Mohamed Gammoudi admis à l'hôpital
Le multiple champion et médaillé olympique tunisien Mohamed Gammoudi a été admis dans une clinique de Tunis où il a subi une intervention chirurgicale assez délicate. Âgé de 71 ans, Mohamed Gammoudi, seul athlète tunisien à avoir été médaillé olympique, est sans doute l'un des plus grands athlètes de demi-fond de l'histoire pour avoir remporté des médailles dans trois jeux olympiques successifs: Tokyo, Mexico et Munich avec un total de 4 médailles dont une en or, deux en argent et une en bronze. Nous lui souhaitons un prompt rétablissement

Mohamed Gammoudi in hospital
The multiple champion and Olympic titled from Tunisia Mohamed Gammoudi has been admitted in a clinic in Tunis where he underwent a complicated operation. 71 years old, Mohamed Gammoudi, the only Tunisian athlete to have won an Olympic title is no doubt one of the best middle distance runners of the history for having taken away medals in three successive Olympic Games: Tokyo, Mexico and Munich with a total of 4 medals among which one gold, two silver and one bronze. May he recover very soon.

La Fédération Tunisienne signe un contrat avec la Fédération FrançaiseDans le cadre de sa restructuration et de sa stratégie de mise à niveau, la Fédération Tunisienne d’Athlétisme a signé avec son homologue française une convention dans l’optique de resserrer les liens entre les deux institutions et de consolider leur coopération. Dans leurs allocutions respectives, les présidents Fathi Hachicha et Bernard Amselem, respectivement président de la DTA et de la FFA, ont rappelé les liens historiques entre les deux pays et la coopération déjà intense dans tous les domaines entre la Tunisie et la France.
D’une durée de deux années renouvelable, la convention prévoit aussi un échange assez important en matière de participation des athlètes des deux pays dans les compétitions tant en France qu’en Tunisie. Ainsi les athlètes français et tunisiens auront accès mutuellement aux championnats nationaux des deux pays avec des effectifs arrêtés d’un commun accord.

The Athletics Federation of Tunisia signs a contract with the French athletic federation.
Within the framework of its restructuring and of its strategy of upgrade, the Tunisian Athletics Federation has just signed an agreement on Saturday, January 15th, 2010 with his counterpart French, in view of tightening the relationships between both institutions and strengthening their cooperation.
In their respective short speeches president Fathi Hachicha and Bernard Amselem, respectively president of the FTA and the FFA have both reminded the historic links between both countries and the already intense cooperation which exists in all the domains between Tunisia and France.
The agreement of a renewable duration of two years also plans an exchange important enough in participation of the athletes of both countries in the competitions both in France and in Tunisia. So the French and Tunisian athletes will have access mutually to the national championships of both countries with unanimously fixed staff.

Bekele battu à Edimbourg
Le cross-country d'Edimbourg a été dominé par les trois Kényans Joseph Ebuya, Titus Mbishei et Eliud Kipchoge, qui ont devancé Kenenisa Bekele, double champion du monde et olympique du 5000 et 10.000 m, peu habitué à se faire battre dans cette discipline.
Bekele a cependant l'intention de délaisser le cross-country cet hiver pour se consacrer à la piste en salle avec notamment l'objectif de battre le record du monde du 3000 m, le 20 février à Birmingham.

The Edinburgh cross-country was dominated by the three Kenyans Joseph Ebuya, Titus Mbishei and Eliud Kipchoge, who were ahead of Kenenisa Bekele, double world and olympic champion of the 5000 and 10.000 m, not at all used to be defeated in this discipline.
However, Bekele intends to let down the cross this winter to devote himself to indoor track with particularly the aim to beat the world record of the 3000m on 20th February in Birmingham.

Regassa et Keitany vainqueurs à Abu Dhabi
Les coureurs éthiopiens et kenyans se sont partagés de très grosses primes, lors du semi-marathon Zayed d'Abu Dhabi. Les organisateurs avaient en effet mis sur la table pas moins de $300 000 US aux vainqueurs des courses masculines et féminines, $100 000 (2e), $50,000 (3e), $20,000 (4e) et $10,000 (5e). La championne du monde en titre Mary Keitany a remporté la course féminine en 67:14. L'éthiopien de 19 ans Tilahun Regassa s'est quant à lui imposé en 59:19 devant Sammy Kitwara (59:34).

Ethiopian and kenyan runners shared big prices money during the Zayed half marathon of Abu Dhabi. In fact the organisers put as stake not less than $300 000 US for the winners of male and female races, $100 000 (2nd), $50,000 (3rd), $20,000 (4th) and $10,000 (5th). The world champion in title Mary Keitany won the female race in 67:14. As for the Ethiopian of 19 years old Tilahun Regassa was imperative in 59:19 in ahead of Sammy Kitwara (59:34).

La vague Ethiopienne au Marathon de  Marrakech
Les Ethiopiens Yared Daganw Sharew et Gelaw Tsega ont remporté la 21ème édition du  Marathon de Marakech.
Sharew a établi un temps de 2:10:20, un best de carrière, pour dépasser son compatriote Gebressellassie Tsegay Reda (2:10:32) et Ahmed Baday (2:10:58) du Maroc.
Chez les dames, Gelaw Tsega a remporté la course en 2:32:06, loin devant le kenyan Georgina Rono (2:34:52) et  un autre Ethiopien, Gebre Zebenaye Moges (2:39:13).
Le record de l’épreuve de 2:08:15 établi par le Marocain Abdelkader El Mouaziz a été établi depuis  1999 et celui des femmes même plus longtemps. Adrian Barbu de Roumanie a marqué un temps de 2:29:21 en 1994.

Ethiopians Yared Daganw Sharew and Gelaw Tsega won the 21st edition of the Marakech Marathon.
Sharew clocked 2:1o:20, a career best, to edge compatriot Gebressellassie Tsegay Reda (2:10:32) and Ahmed Baday (2:10:58) of Morocco.
In the women’s race, the victory went to Gelaw Tsega in 2:32:06, well ahead of Kenyan Georgina Rono (2:34:52) and another Ethiopian, Gebre Zebenaye Moges (2:39:13).
The event record of 2:08:15 set by Moroccan Abdelkader El Mouaziz has stood since 1999 and the women’s even longer. Adrian Barbu of Romania clocked 2:29:21 in 1994.

Kimurer et Chemweno vainqueurs à Eldoret
Joel Kimurer de la police Kenyane est finalement parvenu à gagner un titre local en remportant le trophée des seniors hommes lors de la 19ème édition du cross country de découverte du Kenya organisé à Eldoret.
Agé de 22 ans, il a couru avec tactiques pour éviter les erreurs qui lui ont valu la 5ème place lors du cross country de la police tenu il ya une semaine à Nairobi.  Il a couru 36:14.0 devant Sammy Kitwara, 10è aux Championnats du Monde de semi-marathon de l’année passée à  Birmingham, qui a couru 36:18.6, tandis que Wilson Kipsang était 3è avec 36:23.5.
La course féminine senior a été remportée par Gladys Chemweno. Elle a couru 27:17.0 pour battre la coureuse  Pamela Lisoreng, 27:23.1, et Gladys Kemboi 27:32.8 qui ont terminé 2è et 3è.
l’événement tenu au terrain habituel du club sportif de Eldoret sous un ciel clair et un vent a aussi vu la participation des grands coureurs parmi lesquels le champion Olympic de Marathon en 2004, Stefano Baldini de l’Italy, l’ancien détenteur du record de Marathon Paul Tergat, les champions olympiques Samuel wanjiru et Pamela Jelimo, la médaillée d’argent olympique Janeth Jepkosgei, les anciens champions de Marathon de Boston Robert Cheruiyot et Moses Tanui qui est aussi le fondateur de la course de découverte .
Le premier homme à courir 10 000m en moins de 27 minutes, Yobes Ondieki, était aussi présent. La délégation officielle de la fédération kenyane dirigée par le Président Isaiah Kiplagat, le Secrétaire General David Okeyo et le trésorier Joseph Kinyua était présente ainsi que le président du Comité national Olympic kenyan Kipchoge Keino.

Kimurer and Chemweno power to victories in Eldoret
Joel Kimurer of Kenya police finally managed to win a local title when he ran away with the senior men's crown at the 19th edition of the Discovery Kenya Cross Country championship held in Eldoret.
The 22-year-old ran a tactical race to avoid the mistakes that caused him to only manage a fifth place during the Police cross country championships held a week ago in Nairobi.
He clocked 36:14.0 ahead of Sammy Kitwara, 10th at last year’s World Half Marathon Championship in Birmingham, who clocked 36:18.6, while Wilson Kipsang was third in 36:23.5
The senior women's race was won by Gladys Chemweno. She clocked 27:17.0 to beat a seasoned runner Pamela Lisoreng, 27:23.1, and Gladys Kemboi 27:32.8 who finished in that order for position two and three.
The event held at the usual Eldoret Sports Club ground under clear skies and windy conditions was also attended by top runners, among them 2004 Olympic Marathon champion Stefano Baldini of Italy, former Marathon record holder Paul Tergat, Olympic Champions Samuel wanjiru and Pamela Jelimo, Olympic silver medallist Janeth Jepkosgei, former Boston Marathon champions Robert Cheruiyot and Moses Tanui who is also the founder of the Discovery race.
The first man to run 10,000m in under 27 minutes, Yobes Ondieki, was also present. Top Athletics Kenya official led by chairman Isaiah Kiplagat, Secretary David Okeyo and Treasurer Joseph Kinyua were present as well as National Olympic Committee of Kenya chairman Kipchoge Keino.
