Lamine Faty visite le centre régional de Lomé
La Confédération Africaine d’Athlétisme vient de concrétiser  l’un des piliers de sa stratégie de développement de l’athlétisme sur le continent. En effet, elle vient d’ouvrir le premier centre régional de développement, dédié à la formation et la préparation aux grandes compétitions, des athlètes les plus doués de la région ouest et ce à Lomé capitale du Togo.

The Confederation of African Athletics has just concretized one of the pillars of its athletics development strategy on the continent. Indeed, it has just opened the first regional development centre dedicated to the training and the preparation to the big competitions, the most gifted athletes of the Western region and this in Lomé capital of Togo.
For a first evaluation of the setting up of the centre, the CAA sent in Lomé M. Lamine Faty General Secretary of the CAA and Aziz Daouda Technical Director,  president of the selection committee of the athletes, for a series of meetings with the Chief Executive Officer of the centre the Cameroonian Ekwe Mateke and all the participants. 
This initiative which is dear to President Hamad Kalkaba Malboum, was possible thanks to a strong collaboration with the Togolese State which so tries to promote athletics both in Togo and in all the region, because the centre welcomes as well as athletes from Togo as from Burkina or Benin, until the other athletes of the region join the centre in a near future. 
Both envoys also had several meetings both with the Togolese federation and General Poutoyi Nabede and also with the Minister of sports and Togolese leisure activities Mr. Christophe Padumhekou Tchao.
For the moment the opening witnessed 20 athletes reaching the centre and being under the supervision of three highly qualified executives: Jean Paul SAWADOGO from Burkina-Faso, Germain VIGNISSY from Benin and ISSA KOHLY Djobo Nihny from Togo.

La Confédération Africaine d’Athlétisme (CAA) a la profonde douleur de vous annoncer le décès de sa collaboratrice Mme Bocoum Mariama Diallo dite « Adja ». La défunte s’occupait du site internet de la CAA. Le président Hamad Kalkaba Malboum et ses collaborateurs présentent leurs sincères condoléances à la famille de la disparue.

Corrida de Sao Paulo : Le Kenya rafle tout
Le Kenyan James Kipsang, vainqueur en 2008, a remporté pour la deuxième fois d'affilée la Corrida de la Saint-Sylvestre courue traditionnellement le 31 décembre dans les rues de Sao Paulo, pour porter à 12 le nombre de victoires kényanes dans cette épreuve.
James Kipsang, qui a fait la décision sur les derniers mètres, a précédé deux compatriotes, Elias Kemboi et Robert Cheruiyot, triple vainqueur en 2002, 2004 et 2007. Il a mis 44 min et 40 sec pour parcourir les 15 km de la course, précédant de 19 sec Kemboi et de 50 sec Cheruiyot.
La domination kényane s'est fait aussi sentir dans l'épreuve féminine avec le succès de Pasalia Kipkoech Chepkorir, qui a devancé la Serbe Olivera Jevtic, victorieuse en 1998 et 2005, et la Brésilienne Marily Dos Santos.
Environ 21.000 concurrents, professionnels et amateurs confondus, ont participé à cette 85e édition.

Corrida of Sao Paulo : Kenya wins all
Kenya’s James Kipsang, winner in 2008, took away for the second time successively the saint Sylvester Corrida which traditionally takes place on 31 December across Sao Paulo streets, which made 12 the number of kenyan victories in this event.  
James Kipsang, who made the decision along the last metres, was ahead of his two compatriots, Elias Kemboi and Robert Cheruiyot, three times winner in 2002, 2004 and 2007. He made 44 min and 40 sec to run the 15 km, with 19 sec ahead from Kemboi and 50 sec from Cheruiyot.
Kenya’s domination was also felt in the women’s event with the triumph of Pasalia Kipkoech Chepkorir who went passed Olivera Jevtic from Serbia, winner in 1998 and 2005, and Marily Dos Santos from Brazil
About 21.000 competitors, professionals and amateurs all together, participated to this 85th edition.


Le COCAJ redistribue plus d'un million de roupies à l'athlétisme mauricien
Le comité d'organisation des Championnats d'Afrique juniors (COCAJ) a organisé un dîner, à Flic-en-Flac, afin de remercier d'une part tous ceux qui ont contribué au succès de cette événement phare du calendrier africain, qui a eu lieu du 30 juillet au 2 août au stade de Bambous, et d'autre pour rendre public son bilan. Un bilan plus que positif vu que le COCAJ a réalisé un profit de plus d'un million de roupies (Rs 1 108 612)


The LOCAJC gives away over one million rupee to the constituents of Mauritian athletics
The Local Organizing Committee of the African Junior championships (LOCAJC) organized a dinner to thank on the one hand all those who contributed to the success of this key event of the African calendar, which took place from July 30th till August 2nd at the Bambous stadium, and on the other hand to make public its balance sheet. A balance sheet more than positive given that the LOCAJC made more than a million rupee profit (Rs 1 108 612).

Usain Bolt, champion des champions
Le sprinteur jamaïcain Usain Bolt, triple champion du monde et double recordman du monde en août 2009 à Berlin, a été consacré par l'Equipe Champion des champions pour la 2e année consécutive.
Bolt, champion du monde du 100 m, 200 m et 4 x 100 m et recordman du monde du 100 m (9"58) et 200 m (19"19) aux championnats du monde d'athlétisme de Berlin, a obtenu 1.289 points de la part des journalistes de l'Equipe chargés de décerner ce trophée.
Le Jamaïcain, déjà désigné athlète de l'année 2009 par la Fédération Internationale d'Athlétisme, a devancé très largement le Numéro Un du tennis mondial, le Suisse Roger Federer. Valentino Rossi, neuf fois champion du monde de moto, s'est classé à la 3e place avec 296 points.

Usain Bolt, champion of champions
The Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, triple world champion and double world recordman in August 2009 in Berlin, was crowned by l'Equipe Champion of champions for the second consecutive year.
Bolt, world champion in 100 m, 200 m and 4 x 100 m and world recordman of 100 m (9"58) and 200 m (19"19) in Berlin world championships, got in total 1.289 points according to the Journalists of  l'Equipe who are responsible for awarding this prize.
The Jamaïcan, already declared the athlete of the year 2009 by IAAF largely got ahead of the number one of world Tennis, Roger Federer from Switzerland. Valentino Rossi, nine times world champion of moto race ranked third with 296 points.
